ishmailIshmail Muhammad is a Political Science major and Communications minor currently in his fourth year at California State University, San Francisco. He hails from neighboring East Oakland, California where he was raised to exemplify the benefits of self-love and Black empowerment. Despite facing a number of adversities during his college years, Ishmail holds firmly to his upbringing and accredits the Afrikan Black Coalition’s leadership development programs with helping him to sharpen his focus. Ishmail had this to say about ABC’s Black Student Leadership Training 2015, “What made [BSLT] such a unique experience is being provided the opportunity to build with fellow student leaders and find solutions to issues that greatly affect Black students on our campuses.” As President of CSUSF’s Black Student Union and Vice President of his Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity chapter, Ishmail has hands full nearly every waking moment. However, Ishmail presses forward with confidence knowing the Afrikan Black Coalition will provide him any resources he lacks in pursuit of his goals.
